How racist is AI?
In this series I’ll be sharing with you guys great videos I find online, tackling important tech issues. What makes some of them interesting, such as today’s video, is that no matter how technical or abstract the problem is it only takes a decent journalist/videographer to make the whole thing easy to understand.
We’ll be looking at the great american media Vox where their journalist Joss Fond dives a bit deeper into the world of AI.
To briefly set the scene, AI has been know to be controversial at times to say the least. My favorite example is how Microsoft coded a bot on twitter that ended up being UNBELIEAVABLY racist/wrong. That was in response to trolls influencing its language by interacting with it. But does it make the AI racist by itself, or is it just a problem of “Shit in, shit out” (a bad or biased data set leading to bad or biased results)? What if more than just AI is at play?
Since AI is now used for CV review for example, it is becoming really important to be able to reply to that question.
Hope the video can shine a light on this issue. If you like it feel free to share the video and my article(s) :)
